Level 2 CACHE Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care

The Level 2 CACHE Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care is a practical, vocational qualification designed for students who want to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to work in health and social care settings.

This course provides an in-depth introduction to the sector, focusing on supporting individuals across different life stages, promoting wellbeing, and understanding the principles of safe and effective care. Students will gain the confidence, professionalism and practical skills needed to progress to further study or entry-level employment in care services.

  • Entry Requirements


    To enrol on this course, students will need:

    • Four GCSEs at grade 3 - 9, including English and Maths
    • A genuine interest in working with people in care settings
    • A successful interview with the course team

    This course is suitable for learners who wish to explore a career in health and social care or who want to prepare for progression to Level 3 study.

    Students will cover a range of topics that reflect the core skills and knowledge required in health and social care:

    • Person-Centred Care – supporting individuals according to their needs and preferences
    • Health, Safety and Wellbeing – understanding safe practices in care settings

  • Progression Next Steps


    After completing the Level 2 CACHE Extended Diploma, students may progress to:

    • L3 NCFE Technical Occupational Entry in Social Care (Diploma)
    • Other Level 3 Health and Social Care courses
    • Apprenticeships or traineeships in care services
    • Entry-level roles in health care, social care or childcare settings

    The course provides a strong foundation for students who want to continue their education and pursue careers supporting individuals in a wide range of care environments.

    If you are 19+ years of age, you may be able to progress to one of our Access to HE courses for example Access to Nursing or Access to Midwifery.

    During your time with us you will have access to a dedicated team of careers and education advisors who will help you as you take the next steps towards achieving your goals.
