16-18 ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages)

We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

No formal qualifications are required for ESOL courses but you must meet the standards required for our courses. You will be assessed prior to entry to ensure you are placed on the correct course for you. However, if you have studied ESOL before, please bring along any previous ESOL certificates you may have.

ESOL courses for 16-18s are free.

Although the course starts in September we do accept applications after this. Please apply at any time if you are interested and will will assess your English and discuss your options.

We run the 16 - 18 courses at the Wandsworth Centre not Tooting.

The 16-18 ESOL Study Programme runs through the academic year, typically attending college four days a week. Usually Monday to Thursday with work experience on some Fridays during the year. This will normally be between 10 and 20 hours in addition to your normal timetable. The course is divided into three term with exams in each term.

Your progress will be checked throughout the length of the course and your exams will be spread-out across all three Terms. You will take Ascentis ESOL exams in speaking and listening, reading and writing. In addition you will take an Functional Skills ICT or a Digital Skills qualification and a Functional Skills maths exams.
