LE Portrait Drawing And Painting: Professional Techniques

The course will utilise a range of black and white and coloured wet and dry media to develop drawing and painting from the figure and for use for portrait making. This term we will start with chalky pastels and colouring pencils in tandem, working across the assets of each… the softness of the pastels and shaper scope provided by the colouring pencils and by looking at some of the Degas drawings. This work will pre-empt working with painting with acrylic.

More generally, the course aims to harness observation skills, but sometimes other strategies that promote alternative solutions for picture making. Weekly objectives will be focused through contextual images and discussion/analysis around production. For each session, you can expect one to one support/mentoring to aid your individual development.
