Clothes Making Skills

Broaden your sewing skills and let your creativity flow. In this course you'll learn how to make clothes to a high standard, including couture techniques to make your projects unique and exciting.

  • Course Content


    By the end of the course, you'll be able to:

    • Make clothes including tops, skirts, trousers, jackets and dresses, using advanced techniques

    • Choose appropriate patterns and fabrics for your projects

    • Know when and how to use advanced techniques, such as bias binding, French seams, jet and welt pockets, pleats and pin-tucks

    • Use specialist hand finishing techniques, including hand-made buttonholes.

    This course will provide you with a foundation of skills needed on a fashion, clothesmaking or sewing course. You can further your knowledge by taking another course at the College.
