Certificate in Counselling Skills (Preparation for CPCAB L2 Counselling Skills) - Beginner

This is a seven week distance learning course for anyone who would like to study counselling but has no introductory qualifications in this area. If you have no previous experience of counselling, this certified course will prepare you for the 30 week level 2 CPCAB Certificate in counselling skills. You will learn a range of counselling interventions and skills that will prepare you for the level 2 course, and after that the level 3 Counselling Studies.

Three of the sessions will be on site (the first, middle and last week) and you will work independently at home for the rest of the course. You will have a tutor's contact details so that support is available should you need it.

  • Entry Requirements

You do not need any experience of counselling as this course will give you the introduction you need.

  • Course Content

You will learn about different psychological theories that underpin counselling practice: the psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive approaches. You will also cover key issues in counselling like confidentiality, ethics, professional boundaries and the importance of non-verbal communication.

  • Progression Next Steps

You can progress to the CPCAB level 2 Counselling Skills course.
