UAL Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology

The UAL Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology has been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to further study and training in a range of media-related subjects, including graphic design, animation, games design, website design, film, TV, radio, sound engineering and others. This course enables you to develop your practical skills in digital media production and communication. Your main focus of the course is Creative Media Production and Games Production with written work closely supporting your practical study. This course is aimed at those who wish to gain a grounding in Media and Games Design and to eventually work in one of these industries. Course content will cover the following subject areas

  • Graphic Design
  • Photography
  • Animation
  • Video Production
  • Games and interactive design

Main Software used: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Animate. (Microsoft PowerPoint and Word are used in the research and development of ideas)

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject.

    Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.

  • Course Content


    The main elements of the course include: Video Production, Games and Interactive Design, Digital Graphics, Animation, Media Studies, Skills development, Professional practice, Basic planning and production and working to a brief.

    The course provides a thorough, broad based introduction to the Creative Media Industry, and is equivalent to four GCSEs at Grade C/4. Other opportunities including Functional Skills are offered as part of the programme.

    The course is based in the College's purpose built, modern Creative Industries Centre which incorporates a multimedia computing suite. All areas have the latest non-linear digital audio and video editing equipment.

  • Progression Next Steps


    On completion students have the opportunity to progress onto UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media or UAL Level 3 Diploma in Games Development.

    Most of the course is continuously assessed practical projects. Students also have to produce written reports and evaluations showing evidence of planning, research and organisation.
