Installation electrician and Maintenance electrician Apprenticeship - Level 3

To be an apprentice you must have suitable employment. Individual employers will set their selection criteria. Apprentices will have maths and English GCSEs A*-C/9-4 or Functional Skills Level 2.

By the end of the apprenticeship the candidate will have satisfied the requirements for registration as Eng Tech by the Engineering Council.

The course is split into a number of phases: On-programme Training and development takes place during this part of the apprenticeship, with apprentices attending college one day a week plus assessment in the workplace. During this time, you will develop a portfolio. During their training, apprentices will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected from a competent Electrician Apprentice.

End Point Assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an apprentice goes through to complete their apprenticeship. The apprentice must show their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the overall grade available is distinction, pass or fail.

The apprenticeship duration is 42 months, plus End Point Assessment. One day a week at College, with a minimum four days per week employed in suitable employment.

Once the course has been completed, the Apprentice will be put forward for an End Point Assessment (EPA). This will involve;

• Portfolio of evidence/Logbook
• Knowledge assessment - Online questions, assignments practical assessment
• AM2 test - A synoptic practical/knowledge assessment
