Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma: Midwifery

Access to Midwifery is a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification, validated by the awarding body OCNLR. The Diploma is suitable for those who have been out of full-time education for some time and aiming to join university or higher education courses. This qualification requires a maturity of approach and a high level of commitment. In addition, applicants need a successful interview and screening and must have sufficient time to devote to their studies.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    Candidates are required to have:

    • GCSE English Language at grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills literacy Level 2 and
    • GCSE mathematics at grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills numeracy Level 2

    The core subjects for Access to Higher Education Diploma - Midwifery are study skills, human biology, midwifery studies, psychology and sociology. Tutorial support is also embedded into the programme.

    Learners primarily progress to Higher Education study in areas related to Midwifery. You have a choice to study a degree level at university including Midwifery, Adult Nursing, Biological Sciences, Child Nursing, Health and Social Care, Health Promotion and Public Health, Learning Disabilities Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Public Health and a wide range of combined and related degrees.
