Our Access to Higher Education (HE) Diplomas are designed to fit around your lifestyle for adults aged 19+ who have been out of full-time education for some time and can provide a progression route to undergraduate study at college or university.

You may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to help pay tuition fees which is then written off if you go on to complete a degree course. You may also be entitled to study this course for free if you are:

  • aged between 19 and 23 with no previous Level 3 qualification OR
  • live in a London Borough and are working on a low wage or unemployed or on a state benefit

See our video below about financing your Access diploma:

“The access course was a fundamental part of the structure for building the bridge between my career dreams and my academic success. I feel well equipped and capable to face university challenges,” says Access to Humanities, Social Science & Law student, Thaynara, who was awarded a bursary by OCN London for Outstanding Commitment to Study.

“I am doing amazing work which is both heart-breaking and rewarding. I owe it to my Kingston College tutor, Sue Brahams, because if she hadn’t shown me what I was capable of I would not be able to do what I do. Thank you so much for believing in me." Katie, Access to Education & Teacher Training.

“I’ve had such a good experience, the teachers are amazing”, says Access to Paramedic Science student, Jodie, now at university studying BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science.

Access to Nursing gave me direct access to university as I did not have the right qualifications having studied abroad, plus I did not have A Levels.” Craig gained a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science and recently received a job offer as a GMP Production Scientist in Cambridge, the hub of biotechnology, research and scientific innovation.

“The Access programme is, I believe, underappreciated and undervalued by many. The course offers people like me, who failed to get into university the first time or wanted to change their career path, a second chance”. Access to Paramedic Science student, Paolo, was recognised for Outstanding Academic Achievement at the Keith Fletcher Memorial Awards held at the House of Commons.
