NCFE Level 2 Fitness Instructing & Business Administration

This is a 1-year course designed to give you the skills to become a qualified gym instructor, alongside business admin to be able to run your own successful fitness instructing company. You will gain work experience in our onsite facility Gym.

This blend will give you l the theory and practical skills necessary to go out into the fitness industry or progress onto our Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training This course is ideal for aspiring gym instructors, combining fitness expertise with essential business skills. It equips students with knowledge in training, client management, marketing, and operations, preparing them for dynamic career opportunities.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course. 4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject. Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.   • Course Content


    Some units you will be studying are:

    • Anatomy and physiology for exercise
    • Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
    • Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
    • Principles of exercise, fitness and health
    • Planning gym-based exercise
    • Instructing gym-based exercise
    • Deliver customer service in a business environment
    • Produce documents in a business environment
    • Communicate in a business environment
    • Work with others in a business environment

    Work experience is a mandatory part of your Level 2 Gym Instructors course. In terms 2 and 3 you will be placed in our on-site facility 'The Gym' to work as a member of their staff on a range of different shift patterns. You will need to have the following identification in place before you start your course: One of the following -Passport / birth certificate/ driving licence

  • Progression Next Steps


    After the course you could go out to employment in a gym or sports centre or study further Level 3 courses at Carshalton College, such as: Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.

  • Additional Information


    Duration and Delivery: 1 Year 3/4 days a week in college and work experience in local gym 100% attendance is expected. Due to the popular nature of these courses, we are unable to offer firm progression to all of our students. The limited places are offered on the basis of attendance, punctuality, attitude and achievement. These qualities must be demonstrated throughout the programme.   • Assessment Details


    You will be assessed in a variety of ways, these could include:

    • Coursework
    • Practical examination
    • Professional discussion

    Assignments will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction, a final grade will be awarded at the end of the course.
