NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sports Coaching)
The Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) is a course designed to have a balance of college and work experience in local Leisure Facilities. This blend will give the learner the theory and employability skills necessary to go out into the world of work or progress onto Level 3.
This course is suitable for those who want to work in the active leisure industry as activity leaders, outdoor activity instructors, community leaders or sports coaches and those who wish to have their experience and knowledge recognised by a formal qualification.

Entry Requirements
We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.
4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.
Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English , or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.

Course Content
Some of the units you will be studying are:- Fitness for Sport and Exercise
- Participating in Sport
- Developing Sporting Skills and Tactical Awareness
- Planning and Running a Sports Event
- Work Experience in the Sports Industry
- Plan, deliver and evaluate sports sessions
- Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
- Work Experience
Work experience is a mandatory part of your Sports Coaching qualification. In terms 2 and 3 you will be you will be placed in one of the following local Leisure Centres to work as a member of their staff on a shift pattern. You will also have the opportunity to take the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Progression Next Steps
After the course you could go out to employment in a recreational facility or study further Level 3 courses at Carshalton College, such as: L3 Extended Diploma (Sports Coaching) L3 Extended Diploma (Sports Science ) CYQ Level 2 Gym and L3 Certificate in Personal Training. Duration and Delivery:- 1 Year
- 2/3 days a week in college and 1 day work experience in local Leisure Centres
100% attendance is expected. Due to the popular nature of these courses, we are unable to offer firm progression to all of our students. The limited places are offered on the basis of attendance, punctuality, attitude and achievement. These qualities must be demonstrated throughout the programme. You will be assessed in a variety of ways, these could include:- Coursework
