Level 1 Diploma in Automotive Maintenance & Repair/Electric/Hybrid Awareness
The course is suitable for school leavers interested in becoming a Motor Vehicle Technician.
This Level 1 qualification covers the basic technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots. It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:
- Light vehicle construction and routine maintenance
- Operating principles of light vehicle engines, tyres, brakes, steering and suspension systems
- Operating principles and maintenance of light vehicle transmission systems and electrical and electronic systems.
- Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
Enrichment Activities - The Motor Vehicle students have the opportunity to visit Santa Pod to watch drag racing and Brands Hatch for track days to experience the atmosphere during race events. The students will also have an opportunity to visit trade shows / exhibitions to liaise with employers and see the latest with employers and see the latest technology in the Motor Industry.

We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.
3 x GCSE's at any grade including Maths and English or previous vocational qualification.
