  • Entry Requirements

Candidates must already hold CCN1 or have undergone specialist gas training such as the Guild of Gas Fitters Course (for new entrants) or are fully qualified plumbing/heating engineers who are able to provide evidence of on-site gas related experience. Prior to undertaking ACS CCN1 initial assessment for the first time as a new entrant to the gas industry, candidates are required to hold a current and valid full plumbing qualification (C&G/NVQ 6089 or the ERS Guild of Gas Fitters Certificate or equivalent relevant qualification via another approved awarding body. PLEASE NOTE: NVQ 6129 plumbing technical certificates are not deemed as acceptable, the route for such applicants is via the ERS (GGFOD1) Guild of Gas Fitters Course or equivalent via another awarding body.

Regardless of these pre-requisite requirements, all applications for CCN1 initial assessment as a new entrant to the gas industry MUST be supported with a record of gas related field experience of a minimum of 25 weeks prior to assessment taking place. This is because the registration body GAS SAFE REGISTER, require each and every new entrant to provide a minimum of 25 weeks relevant field experience of working on gas installations prior to applying for registration for the CCN1 Core Gas Safety.

A log book detailing experience and relevant hours may be presented as evidence to GAS SAFE REGISTER providing it is endorsed by a GAS SAFE registered installer who has personally and directly supervised all the related gas work experience being submitted. Such evidence must be checkable, legible and legitimate otherwise the application for assessment and registration will be rejected.

  • Course Content

The ACS CCN1 assessment is for existing gas professionals whose CCN1 qualification has run out for longer than 1 year or candidates who have undergone specialist training (GGFO course certification holders) towards gaining the ACS Core Gas Safety (CCN1) qualification or fully qualified NVQ heating or plumbing operatives wishing to acquire domestic gas qualifications. This is a two day course, as follows:

Day 1: Theory assessments Day 2: Practical assessment tasks
