Each of our colleges has a dedicated team of SEN professionals who work closely with students and their families to ensure they get the individualised support they need to transition confidently and thrive on the course they have chosen.
In addition to the pastoral and academic support provided within our mainstream programmes and the extensive practical and wellbeing support offered by our Student services team, each learner with an EHCP works directly with a specialist progress coordinator. The progress coordinator will ensure the student has access to the provisions outlined in their EHCP, monitor and review their support needs and liaise with the Local Authority to manage their annual review.
Progress coordinators also ensure that learners receive the support or adjustments they need to access examinations and other assessments.
We are also the only FE college in London that has its own in-house therapy team, offering Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy. (Link to therapy team webpage).
The needs of new students are carefully assessed by progress coordinators, tutors and therapists, who work closely with the young person and their family to create a three-year Progression Pathway.
Day-to-day support in class is provided by our learning coaches, who work with the mainstream curriculum teams and progress coordinators to ensure students with additional needs are supported effectively to build their confidence and learning skills.
When learners with an EHCP or additional needs apply to the college, the Inclusion Team will contact them directly to discuss their support needs. If you would like further information before making an application, you can contact them using the telephone number or email address below.
