NCFE Level 2 Diploma - Entry to the Uniformed Services

This one-year course is designed for learners who are considering a career within the Uniformed Public Services.

You will develop the knowledge, practical skills, fitness and professional behaviours required to progress towards careers within services such as the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Armed Forces, Prison Service and other public and protective services.

The programme combines academic study with practical activities, fitness training, teamwork and problem solving to provide an engaging preparation for further study or employment.

  • Entry Requirements


    4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, or successful completion of an appropriate Level 1 qualification.

    Your GCSE profile should include English and/or maths, or an appropriate Functional Skills qualification.

    Applicants will attend a Meet the Tutor event where suitability, previous achievement, attendance and career aspirations will be discussed.

    A positive attitude towards physical activity, teamwork, discipline and professional standards is essential.

    Duration and Delivery:

    1 Year

    Practical activity and physical fitness are important parts of this course and learners should be prepared to participate fully.

    Visits, guest speakers and Public Services-related enrichment activities may be included throughout the year.

    A high standard of attendance, punctuality, behaviour and professional conduct is expected.

  • Course Structure


    Duration: 1 Year

    This is a full-time programme combining vocational lessons, practical Public Services activities, fitness training and tutorials.

    The NCFE Level 2 Diploma contains 370 guided learning hours and requires learners to achieve 43 credits.

    Tutorial sessions, English and Maths will also form part of your study programme where required.

    You will be expected to demonstrate the attendance, punctuality, discipline and professional standards associated with progression into the Public Services.
