If you are looking to get back into education or considering a Career Change you are in the right place, many of our Access and STCG University Centre students are mature students, the idea of getting back into education may be daunting but we have people on hand to support you through your studies each step of the way. If you are considering getting back into education read our top tips:

  • Create a Plan – It is important you plan out your study period and have time set aside to dedicate to your studies and make sure you stick to it, having an action plan can help you focus on individual steps needed to complete your course.  
  • Location - You may find yourself juggling your studies with family, wok commitments and hobbies and a busy home life. Dedicate a space to where you will carry out your studies with minimal distraction. You may find it helps to study in college at one of our Learning Resource Centres rather than at home. 
  • Find out what learning style works for you - Everyone learns in different ways; you may like to learn alone or feel happier studying with your peers, find out what works for you when you start your studies.  
  • Background Reading – To help you prepare for the course ensure you do some background reading around the course, current trends in the industry and read up on different modules the course entails.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for helpIt is an exciting time; you have new goals in sight whether you are planning to change careers or developing your current career prospects. Remember your tutor is there to help you along the way in your studies 
  • Stay motivatedAt times it may feel challenging being back in education but remember why you started, and it will all be worth it once you have your qualification to set you on the road to your new career or a promotion.
