T Level in Building Services Engineering for Construction (Electrical Installation)

5 x GCSE's at Grade 4 or above including English and Mathematics. You are further required to provide a copy of your last school report showing excellent attendance to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

You can progress to the roles such as Electrician, Electrical Engineering Technician, Security Systems Installer, Building Services Engineer, Heating and Ventilation Engineer, Smart Meter Installer, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Installer or Domestic Appliance Service Engineer.

When you pass your T Level, you will get a nationally recognised certificate showing the overall grade you achieved (Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*). It will also give details of what you learned on the course to help you move into skilled employment or a higher apprenticeship.

All courses run subject to demand and the content listed here should be used as a guide only. Course content may vary according to a range of factors such as course duration, campus, teaching staff and requirements from awarding bodies.

The qualification is made up of core knowledge, understanding and concepts, specialist content covering occupational or industry specific skills and an industry placement with an employer which will last a minimum of 45 days.

You will develop a general understanding of construction, including:

-health and safety and the science behind building design, surveying and planning -making accurate and appropriate measurements and mathematical techniques to solve construction problems -construction methods, building regulations and standards -data management and information standards in construction, how the Internet of Things (IoT) impacts construction and digital engineering techniques -relationship management and customer service -construction design principles and processes, the construction industry and its role in the economy and business, commerce and corporate social responsibility -sustainability and the environmental impact of construction

You will also learn about topics specific to building services engineering, including:

-building technology principles -building services engineering systems -maintenance principles -tools, equipment and materials

In addition to the core content, you will also specialise in the following area:

-Electrical and electronic equipment engineering

You will sit an externally set exam at the end of each academic year to test your understanding of the subject. You will also undertake a skill-assessment to demonstrate your competency skills. Whilst on work placement, you will be set a project by your employer that you must successfully complete to demonstrate your overall breadth of learning.

Your T Level will be worth UCAS points (a T Level Distinction is worth the same as three A levels at A) and will be recognised by universities and other education providers so you can choose to continue studying if you wish.
