ESOL L1 (BTEC Award in Pre-Vocational Studies)

A Level 1 ESOL course which covers the four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, focusing on practical, everyday English and developing more formal communication abilities. The content includes building confidence for discussions, giving presentations, understanding longer texts, and improving grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Writing tasks often involve both simple forms and varied free writing, such as informal letters and formal applications.

You will additionally do a BTEC qualification in Pre-Vocational Studies at entry level.

  • Entry Requirements


    You need to have achieved E3 all modes to attend this course or have an equivalent level of English. You will be invited to attend an advice and guidance session before starting this course where you will be asked to do a written assessment.

    The course will include: Taking part in discussions and expressing opinions Participating in group discussions and conversations Giving presentations Developing confidence to read advanced texts and understanding different text styles Improving vocabulary and reading techniques Interpreting and extracting information from longer texts Writing different styles of sentences, including simple, compound, and complex sentences using conjunctions Improving grammar, spelling, and punctuation
