Award in ESOL Skills for Life (Reading) (Ascentis)
This course focuses on developing skills to understand and respond to a wide range of texts used in everyday life and work. You will practice reading various documents like articles, instructions, and online content, identify main points, understand purpose and structure, and build a broader vocabulary. The course prepares you to take the Level 1 ESOL Reading exam.

Entry Requirements
You need to have achieved E3 all modes to attend this course or have an equivalent level of English. You will be invited to attend an advice and guidance session before starting this course where you will be asked to do a written assessment. -
Course Content
You will develop the ability to read and understand a variety of texts, such as job adverts, community notices, meeting agendas, and online posts. The course will teach you to identify main points, understand the writer's purpose, and recognize how structure and language create meaning. Text types: You will practice with different kinds of texts, including informational texts, forms, and online content, by reading them in detail to find specific information. Vocabulary and grammar: You will increase your understanding of an expanding range of vocabulary and recognize how to interpret sophisticated punctuation and grammar in context. *Exam preparation: A major goal of the course is to prepare you for the Ascentis Level 1 ESOL Reading exam -
