This online course provides learners with an initial understanding of the knowledge and the skills that will help them to support other people improve their personal well-being.

  • Entry Requirements


    In order to be able to enrol for this course, Learners must meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 19 or over Have lived in the UK for the past 3 years Have achieved a Grade C (or above) in GCSE English, or a Pass in Functional Skills Level 2.

  • Course Content


    Learners work through online theory modules, before completing a series of related questions.

    By the end of the course learners will be able to:

    • Describe how core counselling skills can be used in a counselling relationship and in other helping activities
    • Describe how counselling theory underpins the use of counselling skills
    • Describe how the ethical framework informs own use of counselling skills.
    • Describe how to develop skills and qualities in the future.

    An Assessor is assigned to each course, and can support learners virtually where required.

    All assessment is completed through a series of questions on an online portal.
