Bring your cake designs to life with the timeless beauty of hand-crafted sugar flowers. In this inspiring short course, you'll learn to create elegant, wired sugar flowers and foliage—perfect for decorating special occasion cakes with a professional touch.

Guided step by step, you'll explore how to work with flower paste, use essential tools and cutters, and shape and wire a seasonal focal flower along with complementary leaves and greenery. You'll also learn expert techniques for colouring with edible dusts and glazes, and how to tape and arrange your creations into a delicate floral spray ready to top a cake.

This course is ideal for beginners and improvers alike, whether you're decorating for a celebration, developing a new hobby, or expanding your cake decorating skills.

A small materials charge of £5 applies.

    Learn all the essentials and more

    How to:

    • Choosing and using flower paste
    • Selecting the correct tools and equipment
    • Colouring flowers with edible dusts and gels
    • Making wired petals and flower centres (using stamens or cotton)
    • Creating wired and veined leaves
    • Assembling flowers and foliage for cake decoration

    Sample flowers may include: clematis, alstroemeria (Peruvian lily), rose, orchid, filler blossoms, and hydrangea petals
