Getting Started With Art - Expressive Drawing And Painting For Wellbeing

This 5 week course is suitable for anyone looking to gain a greater understanding of art as well as those wanting to build their confidence in drawing and painting in a supportive environment.

The course is practical so you will be trying your hand at drawing and painting from natural objects set up by your tutor, and you will be encouraged to experiment with a range of approaches, from accurate studies through to more individual and expressive forms of art.

  • Entry Requirements

There is no requirement to undertake specific reading for this course. However you will need to purchase your own art materials and bring them with you to the class each week.

  • Course Content

By the end of this course you should be able to:

    • Practice and learn how to draw from observation using simple measuring techniques.
    • You will learn how to plan a composition.
    • Study colour theory and colour mixing, palette management and a variety of painting techniques.
    • You can develop and interpret the different subjects in your own way.
    • Subjects include mostly still life, some portraiture and some landscape.
  • Assessment Details
