In this course, we will start by learning how to use measurements to plot and draft a fitted bodice and a trouser block. Whether you are already working in the industry, hoping to pursue academic study, or are a home dressmaker seeking to improve your skill set, this course will help you develop practical skills in garment design and construction.
What will you gain? Beginners: Learn to take measurements correctly. Produce a basic block. Be introduced to techniques through group demonstrations, and benefit from one to one tutorials to aid your development. Be able to create a pattern from a block with the correct seam allowance and markings.
More advance learners will start individual projects: Draft the skirt (trouser) block, production of skirt toile, fitting and modification of pattern. Dress block, production of dress toile, fitting and modification of pattern if required. *Completion of outstanding elements from previous course for returning learners .
