"I initially joined The Prince’s Trust Team as a student in 2021 just to fill my time. I had recently finished Sixth Form, my friends had all moved away for university and I had no prospects for the future. However, I quickly realised how beneficial the course was going to be for me. The confidence I gained just during the first two weeks showed me how much potential I had and how much more I could improve throughout the remainder of the programme.
Before I joined The Prince’s Trust, I already had some previous work experience, but I lacked the confidence and self-belief needed to pursue a career and I was feeling lost and unsure about my future.
Whilst completing the planning for the future unit towards the end of the course, I managed to successfully apply for and obtain a job in hospitality, where I worked for six months.
After leaving my hospitality job, I travelled to America for three months to work at a children’s summer camp as a camp counselor and photographer. The skills I gained and developed during Teamn America helped me immensely during my time abroad. The confidence I gained made it much easier to step out of my comfort zone and make my experience the most beneficial that it could be and, having been given multiple leadership opportunities on Team, I felt much more comfortable and able to take charge of children and to work efficiently with my fellow counselors.
After returning from America, I began applying for jobs once again, but I was finding it very difficult to find a role in a job field that I was passionate about. After over a month of unsuccessful job searching, my mum, who was a previous Prince’s Trust Team Leader, informed me that the current Team Leader, Dylan (pictured with Paige) was looking for someone to support the Prince’s Trust Team at Carshalton College.
I applied and was recruited to join as a staff member to support the students and the fantastic work of the College and Prince’s Trust programme".
