Online accredited professional development
We are now offering our business and community partners free distance-learning training for their staff and volunteers to help them develop further in their respective roles.
- The courses are sector relevant, professionally accredited and free.
- Run on a distance-learning basis so your staff won’t need to miss work to attend classes.
- Learners have a named tutor who keeps in regular contact and helps them progress through a coursework pack towards a final qualification.
- Most will complete within 8 weeks of starting, although it is possible to complete more quickly.

Sector Based Academies
In response to the current economic climate we are working with partners to match ‘job-ready’ candidates in the local community with those needing to recruit. In liaison with key employers, we design short preparatory employability programmes which are bespoke to different occupational sectors.
These provide an introduction to the occupational skills and knowledge required and also integrate two relevant online professional development courses.
- Programmes last for two weeks (the first week is online) and the key attraction for candidates is that there is a guaranteed interview offered by the key employer(s) on the final day.
- These programmes are offered at no cost to both employers and candidates.
A good current example: in partnership with a medium-sized Health and Social Care provider we have created a programme which is delivered by one of our Health and Social Care lecturers, covers the range of careers available in the Care Sector, prepares for interview and also provides for two accredited online qualifications (Dignity and Safeguarding; Introduction to Careers in Adult Social Care).
