“Kingston College was originally my second choice. I didn’t know about the BTEC in Photography and how I could select one subject although after coming here and finding out about this, I’ve found it works a lot better for me. It meant I could focus all of my efforts into perfecting and learning as much as I can about photography without having the burden of two other courses that I didn’t want to take further or enjoy as much. I knew that photography was something I always wanted to go into in the future so having a chance to push this as far as I could was a great opportunity.
“I will be progressing onto university to study BA (Hons) Marine and Natural History Photography at Falmouth University. Throughout my time at Kingston College, all of my projects seemed to relate around nature so going to do this at university is the clear next step. I am also taking my underwater diving license before I go so will be exploring the marine photography aspect of the uni course as well.
“My favourite part of the course was meeting new people that share a passion with me and getting to know them. As we were in Kingston, we would constantly go out at lunch and after lessons to grab food and do all sorts of stuff.
“A really fun and useful aspect of the course was the work placement - going out and working within the field is a key aspect of what you are preparing for. Coming back to classes and talking to my classmates, seeing what they did was also beneficial.
"The new class mates and teachers are all amazing, helping you to push further and giving advice at every step to help you become a better photographer as well as classmates backing this up and giving help. I also think I have found a nice group of people that I will hopefully continue to talk to going into the future.”
