Photography student Tom Rockall talks about this experience of studying at Kingston College:
"I chose BTEC because it was perfect for me to get into university and I chose Kingston College because of the in-depth facilities it offers to its students which made it different to other colleges. I plan to go to university in central Lancashire to study a BSc (Hons) Forensic Science and Criminal Investigation.
"The favourite part of my course is the amount of different advanced techniques and equipment which the College has - this is a privilege compared to other colleges.
"I really recommend Kingston College to others due to the facilities and the feeling of being an adult it brings. Be prepared for responsibilities that come with your work and put a lot of effort in at the beginning of your course or project because this makes it easier to manage time towards the end.
"I had opportunities to participate in many trips to art galleries and gained experience of working with the people on my course and equipment. A lot of the tutors and teachers also worked freelance before teaching which I found useful because they gave us advice and an insight on the life and the flow of work which puts it into perspective."
Each year a Photography student is awarded the Rik Snowley Photography Prize and a £100 cash. The prize is awarded in memory of Rik Snowley, a Kingston based photographer and previous teacher at Kingston College. Janis Brumwell, Kingston College Governor and sister to Rik, selected the winner and awarded the prize for 2022.
