Author and founder of Our Black Boy Magic, Clementina Elba, delivered an inspiring session on Sickle Cell to our Level 3 Childcare and Education students. Black Boy Magic, founded in 2020, is dedicated to supporting the emotional wellbeing of black boys and black girls through daily positive affirmations, literature and journaling.
Following the session Clementina commented: “It was an absolute privilege to speak to the students regarding my journey with Sickle Cell. This enabled me to share a parental perspective in relation to the impact that Sickle Cell can have on the entire family including physical and mental health, while also spreading awareness around the condition and the importance of blood donation.
“It is my purpose in life to support the emotional wellbeing of children living with hidden illnesses through affirmations, poetry and empowerment workshops. Thank you again for enabling me to share the highs and lows of our Sickle Cell journey.”
