Learners from the L2 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (Media) (UAL) and L3 UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology (Film) recently had the unique opportunity to collaborate with two leading beverage brands—Chapmans of London and Rubicon (part of the AG Barr group)—on an exciting live industry brief. Facilitated by our dedicated Employability Team, this initiative provided invaluable real-world experience in advertising and media production.

The project challenged students to plan, film, and present innovative advertisements tailored to each brand’s identity and vision. Chapmans of London, led by Tolani, encouraged learners to create culturally rich adverts reflecting the company’s Nigerian heritage and its range of non-alcoholic beverages. Meanwhile, Rubicon, represented by Viren Chauhan, set a brief focused on promoting health-consciousness through engaging stop-motion advertisements, showcasing their vibrant fruit beverage range, including selections from their popular Spring Collection.

Throughout the collaborative sessions, learners demonstrated exceptional creativity, engagement, and professionalism, impressing both brands with their enthusiasm and insightful questions. The Employability Team played a key role in securing industry partners, facilitating the project, and supporting the delivery of the brief. Sam Cackett, the tutor who set the project, provided continuous guidance, helping students refine their ideas into polished advertising campaigns.

At the start of the new year, Chapmans of London and Rubicon returned to judge the final advertisements, selecting the top three entries. The winners were celebrated with exciting prizes, including exclusive merchandise and free beverages—making the experience even more rewarding for all involved.

This project not only provided learners with hands-on industry experience but also strengthened their confidence and employability skills. The success of this collaboration highlights the power of industry partnerships in preparing students for careers in media and beyond.

Well done to all participants!
