Macmillan presenting to Complementary Therapy students

Level 3 Complementary Therapy students enjoyed an informative and enlightening talk from Archana Sood, Manager of the Macmillan Information and Support Service at Kingston Hospital

The service is staffed by a health professional and trained volunteers, some of whom have experience of living with cancer. A range of support services is offered including Look Good Feel Better Workshops. Some of our Level 3 Complementary Therapy students who already hold qualifications are keen to get involved and volunteer to support cancer patients with treatments such as reflexology, massage and aromatherapy massage.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students who would like to eventually work in the NHS to gain some experience as a complementary therapist.

Beauty Therapy Lecturer, Anita Chawda, said: “We were delighted to welcome Archana to the College. The students thoroughly enjoyed the talk and meeting with her. We look forward to working with the Macmillan Information & Support Service and are thrilled that our students will have the opportunity to give such worthwhile treatments as part of their course.”
