Level 5 Foundation Degree (FdA) Fashion & Textiles students are working with creative industry expert consultant, Hannah Herranz, on their live collaborative project.

Our cohort of students over the last 5 years have benefitted from Hannah's expertise. The brief this year was online luxury following the exquisite floral trends for Spring Summer 2020. Students are working in teams of three collaborating on their choice of colours, fabrics, trends and influencers.

Working as a design team provides such value to their learning, as these interpersonal skills with design decision-making are key to the success of a collection and to getting the product to market. Students presented their Mood boards, Trend Research, and Online digital market analysis to Hannah at the first feedback, where she guided and inputted her knowledge towards the customer profiling; she emphasised how crucial this demographic is towards buying decision.

Hannah appraised students’ toiles and discussed choices of fabrics, print or knit details. Students were asked to develop small collections of Spring/Summer Womenswear with an elegant daywear or special occasion appeal.

FdA Fashion & Textiles students will now make their designs in final fabrics bringing a quality of construction and decorative details befitting to the Luxury Consumer.

Part 2: The Final Feedback – Students present their finished designs on 9th January 2020.
