Safeguarding

Students from both Carshalton and Merton Colleges are supporting Age UK Merton's Christmas campaign, to bring some festive cheer to our older local community. This is the third time they have supported the campaign and hope to make it even better this year!

Many of our students are involved in this project, with Supported Learning students decorating the Christmas tags and Professional Cookery learners baking mince pies. Our Health & Social Care students will help with the delivery of the parcels, often having a friendly doorstep chat with the recipients and carry out a basic well-being check, putting into practice the skills they gained in college.

In previous years, our students have delivered a combined total of over 300 gift bags, along with 80 table gifts for those attending Christmas lunches.

There are three ways in which fellow colleagues and students can help to support this project:

  • Donate money via the Just Giving page
  • Bring in items shown below from w/c 21 November (the donation point will be in the main foyer)
Chocolate coins, chocolate Santa, small box of chocolates
Small Christmas pudding, mince pies or biscuits
Socks, scarf, gloves, small fleece blanket/wrap
Soap, shower gel, wipes, liquid soap, handcream, body lotion
    Calendars
  • Buy a £1 raffle ticket and be in with a chance of winning a voucher worth £100 for Lanes of London Restaurant in Park Lane
