Amelia Boyce has gained D*D*D*, the equivalent of 3 A* at A Level on our 2 year Health & Social Care BTEC, and has accepted a place to study BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science at Canterbury Christ Church University in order to pursue a career in the NHS.
“I chose to study a BTEC course as it gave me the same education opportunities as A Levels which means I have now qualified for university. This was the best academic choice for me. I chose Kingston College because it was such a welcoming environment on the Open Day and it’s local to me.
“My favourite part of the course was studying the anatomy and physiology unit as I found it interesting learning about what happens in the human body. College life was very different to secondary school, it’s definitely an eye opener as everything is down to you and it’s your responsibility to complete deadlines. College allows you to gain independence and helps you to achieve better time management.
“The advice I would give to others is ‘stick to those assignment deadlines’! The lecturers on this course are extremely supportive and will help you if needed, the course itself is enjoyable and interesting. Due to Covid I didn’t get to experience any outside opportunities, but in the second year it was all based on UCAS, personal statements and university (only if you wanted to go), so we did have some external speakers come in and that was helpful.
“I would definitely say that the lecturers that I had were just amazing and extremely supportive (especially my tutor Kristina!). They were always there to help and had your best interests at heart. I definitely made good friends at college and will keep in touch when I have gone to university.”
