First year Level 3 Health & Social Care students at Kingston College have visited local dementia care home, Galsworthy House, as part of their work experience.
During the visit, the learners were able to put the theory of several units into practice by using their observation skills, ensuring principles of safe practice, how to interact with dementia patients, meeting individual needs and support care, and the ideas of communication techniques.
They students enjoyed participating in a number of activities with the elderly residents from playing chess, making poppy plates for Remembrance Day - and meeting Miles the resident cat!
