A BTEC Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering student is on his way to achieving his dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot after being offered a place on the Integrated ATPL Pilot Training Course with L3Harris Airline Academy.
The student, who prefers not to be named, successfully completed the various stages of the selection process, including passing the Class 1 Medical and Further Ergonomic Testing due to their height.
The selection process, which is carefully planned with breaks of up to two weeks between each stage, includes:
- • Online tests including multi-tasking, hand-eye coordination and mathematical skills
- • Scenario testing: how you would handle various situations
• One to one interview with assessor
• Group exercises
• Validation tests

It takes an average of 18 months to 2 years to complete the pilot training and be placed in a role of Junior Co-Pilot with an airline. Choosing to take the L3Harris Integrated ATPL program, means the newly qualified Junior Co-Pilot can select which airline they apply to at the end of training.
