Second year BTEC Extended Diploma in 3D Design students were briefed to produce an original piece of furniture based on the theme ‘arthropod’, which are invertebrates with jointed legs such as spiders, ants, centipedes and crabs. To further enhance their creative skills, the students were also required to link their design to the word ‘entertained’.
Clare Frost, Programme Leader – 3D Design explained: "Some students incorporated families playing games together or keeping children and pets entertained. They had to use wood, concrete and plaster. Due to the current health crisis, sadly the students weren’t able to complete their designs which is a huge shame but I’m incredibly proud of the results anyway!"
She continued: "The course is very practical as there is a focus on getting the students ready for employment or to university to further study in the Creative Industries. These briefs are part of the ongoing assessment process for the students’ final BTEC grade."
