Essential Digital Skills - Entry Level (Pearson)
Essential Digital Skills Qualifications (EDSQs), will equip you with the skills you need make the most of your mobile phone, apps and other digital services.
EDSQs are ideal for those seeking to develop digital skills to function more effectively in everyday life. You will learn the basics and become confident in using them, whether that's communicating to loved ones or making sure you're safe and confident to do your online shopping or banking. After learning the basics, you will have the option to take another course and improve your skills.
These qualifications start at Entry level, which means they're ideal for learners with very little experience of digital skills. You will receive a nationally recognised qualification on completion of your course, with the option of progressing to Level 1 if you want to further enhance your skills and carry on benefitting from accessing a fully funded and up-to-date qualification that reflects the evolving digital landscape.
Please note that you must attend both "Introduction to Essential Digital Skills" and "Essential Digital Skills - Entry Level" to complete this qualification.

Using Devices and Handling Information
- Identify and use basic device features (e.g. adjusting volume, connecting to Wi-Fi).
- Create and save files in a specified location
- Use search engines to find simple information
- Recognise secure websites (e.g. checking for the padlock symbol)
- Follow basic steps to stay safe online, such as creating a simple password

Creating and Editing
- Create a simple document using a word processor
- Enter and format text (change font size, bold text, use bullet points)
- Insert an image into a document
- Use basic editing tools such as copy and paste
- Enter simple data into a spreadsheet

- Send and reply to emails
- Add an attachment to an email
- Use CC or BCC appropriately
- Recognise suspicious emails (e.g. phishing attempts)

- Complete an online form with accurate information
- Make a mock online purchase using secure methods
- Navigate a website to find specific information (e.g. delivery details)
