Pilates for All

The class is suitable for beginners as well as those who may have previously practised Pilates, and for all levels of fitness as it is a gentle low impact form of exercise. Although you should be able to get on and off the floor for mat based exercises.

  • Entry Requirements


    Some previous experience an a interest in keeping active and mobile. Near to the course start date you will be sent a health questionnaire. Please complete and bring this to the first session so that any adjustments due to medical conditions or disabilities can be accommodated.

  • Course Content


    During your classes you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Pilates with the opportunity to progress and build upon any previous exercise to deepen the work. Each class will start with a focused skills session and work towards any goals you may have. During the course you will be guided through exercises for strength, mobility and stability, focusing on posture and alignment and encouraged to build on your knowledge gained week on week, and be challenged with progressions and offered modifications that are right for you.

    By the end of the course you should be able to identify how to work at a comfortable level for you, knowledge of the Pilates classical repertoire, working knowledge of how to improve posture and balance and use this in everyday functional movements.

  • Progression Next Steps


    Learners have the option of re-enrolling for the Improvers Pilates Course or use their experience and knowledge in a new area of sport, wellbeing and fitness

  • Additional Information


    We have mats and head blocks which you can use in the class. You may prefer to bring your own as well as a towel. You will need to wear comfortable loose clothing. Exercises can be done using socks or bare feet. Ideally wear comfortable form-fitting clothing to help see your alignment.

  • Assessment Details


    The tutor will work with you to help and support you by offering feedback and corrections. There is always the opportunity to speak with the tutor individually as well as share ideas, motivation and ask any questions with the group.

    There is no work set outside the course, but you will gain the most out of the course by regularly practising pilates exercises.

    You should be able to follow verbal instructions, and observe and copy physical movements.
