Calligraphy for All

This course will teach you the basic pen and brush skills you need to create beautiful calligraphy. You'll learn what tools and materials to use to create different styles including italic and foundational.

Under expert guidance, you will learn how to form letters in different calligraphic styles, how to use a dip pen with ink, how to arrange text on a page and how to design and create a finished piece to a high standard.

  • Course Content


    Learning from historical models, you will develop your own personal style and build up a portfolio of work. The course will introduce Western calligraphy, provide technical instruction in the use and handling of calligraphic pens or brushes in drawing calligraphic alphabets, and provide an understanding of the principles of design for personal projects including invitations, poetry, prose, greetings cards and decorative plaques.

    The course is designed to develop your creativity and give you the skills and ideas to complete your own projects independently.
