L2 Aviation with Introduction to Cabin Crew

The aviation industry is one of the most dynamic and fast-paced sectors in the world, offering careers in cabin crew, airport operations, airline customer service and ground handling. This Level 2 Aviation with Cabin Crew course is designed for students who are passionate about aircraft, airports and delivering outstanding passenger experiences. You will gain an introduction to how the aviation industry operates, including the structure of airlines and airports, the role of cabin crew, aviation safety procedures, and customer service in a global travel environment. Throughout the course, you will develop essential professional skills such as communication, teamwork, confidence, and problem-solving — all vital for working in aviation. You will also explore industry expectations, grooming and presentation standards, and how to respond effectively in realistic passenger scenarios.   • Entry Requirements


    • 4 x GCSEs at grade 3/D or above, including grade 4/C in English OR Mathematics, or a Level 1 qualification, with a merit grade, in a relevant subject.
    • We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
    • You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other to include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference/school report.
    • You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    • Mixture between travel and cabin crew units.
    • For Aviation, you will be looking into:
      • Health and safety within aviation
      • Aviation security
      • Aviation communications
      • Aircraft check-in services
    • For Cabin Crew, you will be looking into:
      • Working as Cabin Crew
      • Airline health, safety and security
      • Aircraft emergency situations
      • Dealing with passengers on-board an aircraft
      • Cabin service
      • Making passenger announcements
    • This course is suitable for students who would like to gain employment in the airline industry or enhance their studies in travel and tourism. It provides an additional qualification for students wishing to work as cabin crew.
  • Progression Next Steps


    • Most students progress to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Operations.
    • There are lots of opportunities available to you to progress across the South Thames Colleges Group and into the world beyond education.

  • Additional Information


    • You will have the opportunity to visit tourist attractions and airports, and to hear from industry experts.
    • If you have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or Maths, you will continue to study these GCSEs alongside Travel & Tourism.
    • Trips: Students benefit from a programme of curriculum-linked visits throughout your course. These include local trips, and overseas opportunities to destinations including Paris. All visits are directly linked to assessed units and support students in developing transferable skills, exploring tourism and urban environments, and gaining first-hand insight into different cultures and global destinations.

  • Course Structure


    • The majority of your work is coursework based with one exam unit (UK Travel and Tourism sector). Where you will be assessed through a variety of assessments (E.g. Written reports, presentations, role plays and other assessment types.)
    • You will have the opportunity to work in our mock-up cabin crew room and have a variety of speakers to talk about the aviation industry.
    • You will also complete a one-week work experience placement in the tourism or aviation industries.
