  • Course Content

AS Level Geography: Students will learn physical and human geography modules. Physical geography will underpin natural hazards and coastal management where students look at tectonic theory, natural hazards and coastal landscapes. Whereas, human geography will underpin urbanisation of local and specialised fields, through a lens of regeneration. All supplemented with a fieldwork investigation trip that underpins their exam in the summer. This is where students develop data collection and analytical skills in real world environments.

  • Progression Next Steps

The majority of students progress onto the 'top-up' year to complete their A-level Geography with Level 3 National Diploma in Aviation. After two years, successful completion of this pathway supports progression to:

    • University degrees (E.g. Aviation Management with Commercial Pilot Training in Aeroplanes, International Tourism Management, and many more)
    • Apprenticeships (E.g. Cabin crew with Easyjet/ British Airways, TfL Apprenticeships, and many more)
    • Employment opportunities (E.g. Airport security, aviation planning and many more)
  • Additional Information

Fieldwork: Students will undertake local and (where feasible) residential field trips to support geographical investigation and industry exposure.

    • Assessment: Geography is assessed through examination papers and a non-examined assessment (NEA). Aviation elements will be assessed via coursework, case study projects and presentations.
    • Industry Links: We work with travel agencies, airlines and tourism organisations to provide insight and enrichment opportunities.
    • Trips: Students benefit from a programme of curriculum-linked visits throughout the two-year course. These include local one-day fieldwork visits, UK residential study trips such as Juniper Hall, and overseas opportunities to destinations including Amsterdam and Salou.

All visits are directly linked to assessed units and support students in developing fieldwork skills, collecting primary data, exploring tourism and urban environments, and gaining first-hand insight into different cultures and global destinations.
