L2 - Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
This qualification provides an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners 19+ who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
The qualification covers the areas of communication, equality, diversity and inclusion, personal development, role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care and person-centred approaches.

Entry Requirements
This course is for adult learners 19+. It would be desirable if learners had GCSE grade 4/C in English and /or ESOL/EFL.The L2 - Certificate in Understanding the Safe Handling of Medication in Health and Social care and/or Personal care needs would be recommended before studying this course.

Course Content
To be awarded the qualification, learners are required to successfully complete the following mandatory units:- Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
- Understand the Role of the Social Care Worker
- Introduction to Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings
- Principles of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Adult Social Care Settings

- Principles of Communication in Adult Social Care Settings
- Principles of Personal Development in Adult Social Care Settings
- Understand Health and Safety in Social Care Settings

Course Structure
This course will be delivered during the day on Thursdays and Fridays with a blended learning approach.Teaching will start from the w/c 24th February 2025 and run until July 2025.

Assessment Details
The Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care is internally assessed using a portfolio of evidence including practical and theoretical assessments.
