L3 - Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator 16-19 year olds)
The CACHE Level 3 Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) is a qualification that prepares you to work unsupervised, or in a supervisory capacity, with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the sector of Children's Services. As well as developing theoretical knowledge, students will also develop critical key skills such as communication and teamwork to support progression into employment or the next level of study.
This qualification is the equivalent to three A Levels.

Entry Requirements
We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other to include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference/school report.
5 x GCSE's at C/4 and above including English at B/5 and Maths at C/4.
A DBS (police) disclosure is required for this course.

Child development from conception to seven years Children's health and well-being Providing safe environments for children Child health Play and learning Understanding children's emotional needs Observation, assessment and planning Supporting emergent literacy Supporting emergent mathematics Preparing for school readiness International perspectives Reflective practice for professional development Professional partnerships in Early Years Professional practice portfolio Students spend their time in College and on a practical placement applying theory to practice. Conditions and working hours vary slightly according to the practical placement. We will arrange for you to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. To achieve the Diploma you must complete 15 units and two externally set and marked assignments. -
Progression Next Steps
Entry to Higher Education courses, e.g. Teacher Training or Early Years Foundation Degree (this Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels). Alternatively, this Level 3 qualification provides entry into the early years and childcare workforce as an Early Years Educator (EYE) with licence to practice.There are lots of opportunities available to you to progress across the South Thames Colleges Group and into the world beyond education.
