Pottery for Intermediates

This course is designed for anyone wanting to extend their skills in pottery further. A perfect follow on to our course Pottery for Beginners. The course is the ideal opportunity with different clay types to create more ambitious pieces.

  • Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, however, to gain the most from this course we recommend previous ceramics experience. If you are new to pottery, we would highly recommend trying out our Pottery for Beginners course.

  • Course Content

Throughout this 8-week course, you will have the opportunity to extend your ceramics skills further by exploring specialist projects designed to challenge and inspire. You will be introduced to working with contrasting black and white stoneware clay, alongside learning more complex glazing and construction techniques, including the use of: oxides, underglazes and slips to decorate. In the later stages of the course, you will take on a specialist project that introduces a mixed-media material to enhance functionality and aesthetics to offer a complementary contrast between the glazed ceramic and the added elements.

With constant support and from your lecturer - this course is perfect for potters returning to clay, hobbyists or students advancing from the Pottery for Beginners course who are eager to refine their skills and explore exciting new processes.

  • Progression Next Steps

You could progress onto our follow-on course, Pottery - Studio Session, where you can work entirely on your own ceramic projects in our expert facilities with the support of a tutor throughout the session.

  • Additional Information

All materials and equipment are provided. Should you become more ambitious in the scale of your work we may ask for a contribution towards materials used.
