Develop your fashion‑making skills in this focused five‑week intermediate course, designed for adults who want to take their garment construction to the next level. Taught in our specialist Fashion Construction studio at the Creative Industries Centre in South West London, this evening class offers an enjoyable, creative atmosphere supported by expert tuition and access to professional‑standard equipment.

  • Entry Requirements


    This course is designed for intermediate makers who are already comfortable with sewing and want to deepen their technical skills, gain confidence with industrial machinery, and work more independently on personalised projects.

  • Course Content


    Across five Thursday evenings, learners will build confidence and independence in both pattern drafting and garment construction. Working from your own measurements, you will create a bespoke pattern and then construct your garment using our industry‑standard facilities.

    This course is ideal for learners who already have solid sewing experience and are ready to work more independently. At this level, students are encouraged to use our industrial sewing machines, though domestic machines are also available.

    • Drafting your own pattern from scratch using professional methods
    • Refining fit and construction techniques
    • Confident use of industrial sewing machines and specialist equipment
    • Techniques for assembling a calico toile and preparing for final fabric
    • Understanding grainlines, seam allowances, shaping, and finishing methods

    You could progress onto another of our evening classes such as Textiles Surface Design.

  • Additional Information


    Calico is provided for the construction of your garment. Learners will need to supply their own final fabric if they wish to remake the garment beyond the course.

    Please be aware our courses need to meet a minimum recruitment number in order for them to run, a full refund will be provided should a course not meet the required numbers. Once the course has started no refunds or partial refunds will be given.
