Earth Matters - Reduce, Reuse, Repair
This 8-week course is an explorative journey through sustainable craft and artistic practice. Students of this course will experiment with a range of materials, working in sustainable making techniques to focus on a reduce, reuse and repair ethos. With the support and guidance of experienced lecturers in a range of subject specialisms you will work with botanical/vegetable dying, jewellery and ceramics.

Course Content
Through tutor-led projects you will learn techniques across a range of art practices including textiles, ceramics, jewelry and fine art. Students will learn vegetable/botanical dying and textile printmaking in our fashion department during the first weeks of the course. You will then move to our specialist 3D workshop for sessions in eco/upcycled jewellery, followed by further weeks exploring sustainable pottery techniques. The final weeks of the course are taught in our art studios with a focus on Fine Art and reusing found objects. Sessions are taught by subject specialist tutors at the Creative Industries Centre. -
Progression Next Steps
You could progress onto another of our evening classes such as Fashion – Fixing and Mending, looking at sustainable fashion, exploring techniques to repair and recycle clothes. -

All equipment and materials will be provided. Should you become very ambitious in your making, we may ask for a contribution towards additional materials used.Please be aware our courses need to meet a minimum recruitment number in order for them to run, a full refund will be provided should a course not meet the required numbers. Once the course has started no refunds or partial refunds will be given.
